چکیده

The Geological Survey Office (GSO) undertook a pilot study with the objective of assessing the ability of Survey data to support modern quantitative mineral potential modelling techniques. The Yarrol pilot project was designed to audit digital data sets routinely produced by the GSO, and to provide mineral assessment outputs relevant to both industry and Government decision-making processes. The study focused on the estimation of mineral potential using modern quantitative methods including the USGS three-part resource assessment methodology. Mineral potential was assessed for porphyry-copper-type deposits in part of the Yarrol Province, central Queensland establishing: 1. ground permissive for the occurrence of copper-type porphyry deposits; 2. zones favourable for the occurrence of such deposits using computer-based prospectivity modelling techniques; and 3. estimates of the number of potential undiscovered deposits (probability of occurrence modelling). In this study the statistical technique 'weights of evidence' was used for prospectivity modelling in a general PC GIS software environment. The application processes used and the results of the Yarrol case study are reported in this paper, as well as the implications for the operations of the Geological Survey.

GIS modelling for Au-Pb-Zn potential mapping in Torud-Chah Shirin area-Iran

One of the major strengths of a Geographic Information System (GIS) in geosciences is the ability to integrate and combine multiple layers into mineral potential maps showing areas which are favorable for mineral exploration. These capabilities make GIS an extremely useful tool for mineral exploration. Several spatial modeling techniques can be employed to produce potential maps. However, these...

A GIS-based weights-of-evidence model for mineral potential mapping of hydrothermal gold deposits in Torbat-e-Heydarieh area

The method of weights of evidence is one of the most important data driven methods for mineral potential mapping in GIS. In this method, considering the characteristics of known mineralized locations, we can prospect new mineralized areas. In this research work, the method of weights of evidence has been used for hydrothermal gold potential mapping in Torbat-e-Heydarieh area, east of Iran. As a...

Emergency department resource optimisation for improved performance: a review

Emergency departments (EDs) have been becoming increasingly congested due to the combined impacts of growing demand, access block and increased clinical capability of the EDs. This congestion has known to have adverse impacts on the performance of the healthcare services. Attempts to overcome with this challenge have focussed largely on the demand management and the application of system wide p...

Integrating Bedrock Geology with Stream-sediment Geochemistry in a Geographic Information System (gis): Case Study Nts 92h

Two data sets commonly used for geological resource assessment include bedrock geology and stream-sediment geochemistry. Traditional methods for determining relationships between these data include both qualitative and quantitative techniques. Qualitative interpretation and integration is generally based upon visual observations of spatial coincidence between the data. Quantitative results can ...

Mineral Resource Estimation: an Evaluation of Responses’ from Northeast British Columbia

The Mineral Potential Project is an initiative that provides predictions of resource abundance in the province and has been described by Kilby (1995). Ian this project, resource assessment is carried out on specified tracts of land, referred to as mineral assessment tracts. These tracts are generalizations of contiguous geological tracts that share a common tectonic history and metallogeny and ...
